Artist’s statement
We often imagine things beyond the limits of sight and feel the presence of what remains invisible. But how does the unseen shape our perception, and what does it mean to us? These questions remain at the heart of this work.
New York became the ground of my daily life and filled my mind with images. Long before I arrived, the city had already taken shape in my imagination through the countless pictures made of it. Once I was there, I wanted to move beyond those familiar images and find a way of seeing that could be my own.
I walked through the rain, carrying these questions with me, and began to notice what seemed hidden behind the visible city. The pinhole camera offered another way of seeing, allowing what was overlooked or difficult to perceive to emerge. Polaroid gave each encounter a singular, tangible form.
