Born in Busan and raised in Seoul, Korea, Eun Kwang Light Park is a fine art photographer currently based in Seoul and New York City. He started pursuing photography when he was in middle school, and graduated Sang Myung University, Korea in 2006. He moved to New York in 2008, and graduated Parsons the New School for Design MFA. Also he recently in the course of Media Ph.D at Sogang University in Korea. He intends to live as a photographer, who unremittingly explores what 'truth' is on the borderline between the reality and unreality of the medium called 'photograph'. In his first projects in New York, he proceeded called Like an Afterimage, which explored the borderline between visible and invisible reality; Trace, which showed the linkage between one world and another through the memory after his first work; Utmost Moment, which revealed meaningful changes that life and death show; Beyond the Light, a series that represents our human desire to illuminate the veiled and the mysterious, uncovering numerous illusions through light.; and Unexpected Happiness, which pictured the moment of dreams unfolded in our imagination in the manner of practical way. His most recent project is Genuine Ground which photographically shows that the meanings of objects and space could be changed by choice and construction, and Eternal Breath, which showed 'breath' as an exploration for eternity.
He plans to consistently proceed with the media project in the manner of discovery and construction by combining various theories and concepts.
박은광은 한국의 부산에서 태어나 상명대학교 사진학과와 뉴욕의 파슨스 스쿨에서 석사를 마치고 서강대학교 영상대학원에서 영상학 박사과정을 거쳤다. 현재는 서울과 뉴욕을 오가며 작업 중인 사진가이다. 사진이라는 매체가 가지고 있는 현실과 비현실의 경계에서 '진실'이란 무엇인가에 대하여 끊임없이 탐구하는 사진가로서 살고자 한다. 뉴욕에서 시작된 첫 작업은 보이는 것과 보이지 않는 현실의 경계를 탐구하였던 Like an Afterimage 며 첫 작업 이후에 기억을 통한 세상과 세상의 연결을 보여준 Trace, 삶을 대하는 인간의 다양한 행위를 보여주는 Utmost Moment, 빛이라는 경계를 통해 세상, 사람 그리고 시간의 욕망을 드러낸 Beyond the Light가 있다. 또한 인간의 상상 속에서 펼쳐진 꿈의 순간을 실제화한 Let there be Light가 있다. 최근 진행 중인 작업은 공간의 의미가 선택과 구성에 의해서 변경될 수 있음을 탐구하는 Genuine Ground와 영원성에 대한 탐구로서 '호흡'을 보여준 Eternal Breath이다. 박은광은 앞으로도 사진이라는 매체로 새로운 감각을 전달하고 지식을 생산하기 위해 다양한 프로젝트를 지속적으로 진행할 예정이다.
